   Postworking - Part II

There are practically two breeds of people when it comes to appreciating pinup art. The first would be your fellow artists. Artists love the detail in your pinup artworks - they spend hours apreciating every grain of texture on the skin of your pinup characters.

Well unfortunately, the same can't be said to be true for the layman on the street - you know - the guy on the street stopping to pick up streamy men's magazines at the newsstand and who likes his Starbucks coffee smooth and even without undiluted grains of coffee floating at the top.

Grains on the skin of his favorite supermodel will just tick him off from drinking coffee for the rest of his life ;)

So how do you please the crowd and get that unreal super-smooth skin that you see on the centerfolds of men's magazines? Well, it's real simple and in this tutorial, I'll be revealling all :)

I'll be using this Poser artwork below as a starting point - if you look closely, the skin of the character is full of detail - let's convert it to the super-smooth men's magazine version!

First of all, load it up in your favorite photopainter and using the lasso or similar tool, select the areas of your character skin that you plan to smoothen (picture below)

Next apply the blur filter to smoothen the skin of your character - if you have a copy of Adobe Photoshop then I would recommend the 'Smart Blur' tool.

Once done you'll notice that your character now has that super-smooth skin look. However, her eyes, face and edges of her body is also smothened out and blurred as well. The final step would be to use the 'History Brush' and brush her eyes, nose, lips, hair, fingers and edges of her body so all the detail returns.

On completion, you have an artwork fit for men's magazines ;)
